Come with as the host JP, invites you in to conversations with people he’s met over the years. We won’t have stories about how to train or how to win a bike race here. Instead we’ll hear about what goes on in these athlete’s minds and sometimes we’ll even dive into the deep end of the pool and talk about mental health

Carson Beckett is the current Elite Marathon National Champion and is preparing to defend his title at Carvin’s Cove in Roanoke, Virginia. In this episode, Carson sits down with JP to unpack the journey to becoming a national champion—what it meant to chase the stars-and-stripes jersey, the deep personal affirmation that came with victory, and what the "view from the top" really looks like. It’s an honest look at performance, purpose, and how we evolve after reaching a big goal.
Beyond racing, Carson is building something much bigger: Dirt Camp Racing. JP and Carson dig into how the team was born, what makes it special, and how it balances supporting elite-level racers alongside beginners and youth riders. It’s a powerful conversation about mentorship, culture, and community-building in cycling. Whether you’re chasing podiums or simply riding for wellness, Carson’s story will leave you feeling inspired and grounded.

In this week's episode of The Stable Cyclist Podcast, JP sits down with Selene Yeager—known to many as the FitChick from Bicycling magazine and more recently as a leading voice in women’s performance health. Selene shares her path from writing for Rodale Press to co-authoring game-changing books like ROAR and NEXT LEVEL with Dr. Stacy Sims. Now the host of the massively successful Hit Play Not Pause podcast on Feisty Media, Selene is leading the conversation around menopause, fitness, and what it means to thrive through midlife.
But this episode isn't just for women. JP and Selene dive into what men need to understand about the women around them—whether they’re partners, friends, athletes, or daughters. From hormonal shifts to mental health challenges, the episode explores how men can support women with empathy, awareness, and action. This is a must-listen for anyone who wants to better understand the women around them and be part of a stronger, more informed cycling and life community.

Chase Wark Docu-Series : https://youtu.be/lxHdcdeQ7Bk?si=Rue4xkplPKh7psJQ
How much has your life changed in the last year? One year ago, I met Chase Wark and was struggling to find my rhythm with the podcast and with my projects. Fast forward a year and Chase is not only a friend but I work for him and he is my main sponsor for racing.
So after a wild few weeks of travel, I found myself in the Driftless region set to tackle The Hotdish, Chase's most Minnesotan race. I had great legs and was ready to roll but was faced with a decision just 6 miles into the race. This episode of the Bootleg Miles is as full as many swerves as the Hotdish course itself.

This week on The Stable Cyclist Podcast, JP sits down with Crystal Kovacs—founder and driving force behind Dirt Squad Cycling—for a heartfelt and honest conversation recorded live at the 2025 Unbound Expo. Crystal opens up about her personal journey into gravel cycling, the barriers she encountered, and the moment she realized that the sport needed more intentional pathways for people who don’t fit the "traditional" cyclist mold.
We dive into how Dirt Squad was born not out of performance goals, but out of a deeper mission: building community and creating a radically inclusive space in gravel. Whether you're a longtime rider or just gravel-curious, Crystal’s philosophy of riding with heart—and riding together—is inspiring and energizing. If you love the soul and ethos of The Stable Cyclist, you’ll feel right at home with Dirt Squad.

Chase Wark Docu-Series : https://youtu.be/lxHdcdeQ7Bk?si=Rue4xkplPKh7psJQ In this episode, I return to the Badlands Gravel Battle—the race that unknowingly changed the trajectory of my life back in 2018. That year, I arrived unknowingly battling Bipolar Disorder, and yet I found myself in a rare stretch of natural stability. I was fit, focused, and I won. But what came after the finish line would shape everything: Nick and Lindsay Ybarra encouraged me to take on the Maah Daah Hey 100. That one conversation became the spark that carried me through a storm I didn’t yet know was coming.
This vlog is about racing, yes—but it’s also about mental health, resilience, and the power of encouragement. As I race the 2025 edition of the Badlands Gravel Battle, I reflect on how that first race gave me a purpose when my life was falling apart. That memory became a lifeline through my diagnosis in 2020 and fueled the story I’m now telling through the film Back to the Start. Watch as I return to where it all began, chasing finish lines and healing in the North Dakota Badlands.

Chase Wark Docu-Series : https://youtu.be/lxHdcdeQ7Bk?si=rdpFwJj8MJeIPN6D
In this deeply personal and emotionally charged episode, recorded inside Merchant Cycles in Emporia, Kansas just before Unbound 2025, host John Peter sits down with Bobby Wintle—race director of the legendary Mid-South gravel race—for a raw and reflective conversation.
Bobby opens up about his life before gravel as a passionate musician, and how that creative energy helped shape the welcoming, inclusive spirit of Mid-South. Together, the two discuss the emotional highs and crushing lows of putting on massive events, including the heartbreak and mental spiral following the wildfire-forced cancellation of Mid-South earlier this year. This is an intimate exchange between two high-energy, heart-forward people—offering a rare look behind the curtain of what it means to love, build, and carry a community through gravel cycling.

Two weeks ago at Granny’s Gravel Grinder, I received an incredible surprise: a brand new Lauf Seigla thanks to Chase Wark and Wark’s Cycling Services coming on board as a sponsor. But here's the twist... it took me a full week to actually ride the thing! In this episode of Bootleg Miles, I walk you through the process of modding and customizing my new gravel race bike — and why dialing in a ride when you're 6'4" is no small feat. From chain waxing to bar swaps to internal brake routing, this was more than a quick tune-up.
This pod isn’t just about building bikes — it’s about why the process matters. I share how wrenching helps my mental health, how I taught myself bike mechanics out of necessity, and how I finally brought White Lightning 2.0 to life. We also talk Silca sealant, tubeless setups, and why this is the nicest bike I’ve ever owned. If you’re a gear nerd, love behind-the-scenes storytelling, or just want to see how this bike came together before Badlands Gravel Battle, you’re in the right place.
